ARCHITECTS 4 LISTED BUILDINGS
We have the Listed Buildings skills you need to improve your heritage asset.
Working with older buildings calls for a particular set of specialist knowledge, skills, expertise and full understanding of historic building techniques and methods.
We have an extensive understanding of the challenges relating to conservation issues. If you are considering buying a listed building, need help with listed building conservation or preparing to submit an application for alterations or an extension, we can work on your behalf to ensure that Local Authority Conservation department requirements are met in full. Traditional building materials have different characteristics to modern ones and adding a modern structure to a historic one needs specialist knowledge and skills. Adding modern materials adjacent or to the historic fabric like damp proof membranes, cements, modern non porous paints, modern renders and concretes will cause long term excessive erosion to a historic building.
Over 30 years of experience working with clients and Conservation Officers at the local council to provide the best repairs, maintenance, extension and alterations to historic buildings.
The owner, Laurane Bubbins is one of only a small proportion of Architects in England who specialise in the repair, alterations, extensions and maintenance of old buildings. Laurane Bubbins is the only Architect Accredited in Building Conservation in Bedfordshire who is actually Registered with AABC (Since 2005) and is actually a RIBA Conservation Architect.
AABC is an independent accreditation body established in 1999 for and by skilled conservation architects. The primary purpose of the AABC Register is to protect the historic built environment from damaging interventions devised by people not skilled in historic building conservation and adaptation. To be a RIBA Conservation Architect (CA), you need in-depth knowledge and experience of working with historic buildings.
Do not risk getting a refusal for your Planning application and wasting a lot of money or being left with no specification and schedule of work on site with inexperienced builders. Make sure the builders are qualified in conservation building techniques and are pricing like for like with a fixed price contract that you only sign when you are happy everything is included in their costs and will be built to the right quality.
